original stock car, reproduction of an original stock car or generic
stock car that was built and raced prior to 1988.
2. =
Standards
of Eligibility for vintage race cars into the club:
(a.) Completed Vin=
tage
Stock Cars: As of this accepted date 12-02-07 t=
hese
standards are officially adopted. All completed vintage stock cars that have
passed club inspections, or have been previously registered and accepted in=
to
the club will be grandfathered as long as they have maintained their origin=
al
construction and appearance at the time they were first accepted. All
other vintage stock cars will be subject to review and approval by the club
Vintage Stock Car Eligibility Committee before acceptance into the club.
(b.) Vintage Sto=
ck
Cars built and raced prior to 1988:
1. Original Stock Cars –=
Should =
be
researched for their history. All cars should be restored to the condition,=
paint
schemes, and appearance when they raced previously to preserve their histor=
y.
Every effort should be made to obtain its past.
2. Reproduction Stock Cars =
211; If a
reproduction of an original stock car is to be made, it should maintain our
vintage theme. Reproduction cars should look as original as possible to
accurately portray the appearance of the car in the era which it competed.
Construction techniques, paint schemes, and lettering should reflect the
original appearance of the car in the era that the car competed.
3. Generic Vintage Stock Cars
– If a car is built from scratch, it must accurately reflect the era
(1950’s, 60’, 70’s up to 1987) for which it is intended to
represent. The car should follow the construction techniques, paint schemes,
lettering, and appearance of the chosen era.
4. Stock Cars with
Unknown History:
If a car’s history can not be found the car should be restored to the=
era
that fits its construction and should conform to the construction technique=
s,
paint schemes, and lettering of the era that is being represented.
(c) GENERAL
INFORMATION
1.
Owners of completed cars must submit a color pho=
to
and description of the
car. Such cars must be constructed to pre 1988 requirements in
appearance and technology with the exception of safety related items which are mandated by=
law
or governing organizations.
2.
Potential car builders of replicas or original
restorations must contact the Committee to obtain GSVSCC information
kit. Builders must submit a proposal of the car to be constructed outl=
ining
appearance and details. Anyone building a replica car must ensure
the original car does not
exist. It is recommended that an attempt be made to contact the origin=
al
owner in an effort to validate the information.

All cars must be approved by the committee to en=
sure
that they conform to the club’s historical theme and eligibility
standards before acceptance into the club.

All cars and their drivers must conform to the t=
rack
as well as the club’s compliance rules and regulations. <=

5.
Bodies: All bodies shall accurately represent the era of
the vintage car. Steel OEM type bodies are preferred but not
mandatory. An example of the preferred bodies would be: Coupes, Coache=
s,
Pintos, Gremlins, Vegas, Falcons, Mustangs, etc. No fabricated sheet m=
etal
wide bodies allowed. Fiberglass, hoods, noses, and roofs would be eligible
based on correct era and originality of car. All cars will be required=
to
have a (1) one-piece solid roof. No open top rag top roofs excepted unless
original confirmed historical documentation of subject car is submitted. If
filler panel is welded in roof must the same gauge / thickness as the origi=
nal
roof. Detailed historical documentation would be required documenting the u=
se
of fiberglass body parts. Cavalier bodies would be required to be OEM =
body
panels unless original confirmed historical documentation of subject=
car
is submitted proving non-OEM body panels were used.
6.
Frames: Frames should match the qualifying era set forth=
in
these rules. All cars must have a full main frame rail running in front of =
the
engine and up and over or under the rear of the car. Main frame rails
shall be 2”X 4” X 0.120 minimums or stock-boxed frame for dirt =
cars
and 2”X 3” X 0.120 minimums or stock-boxed frames for asphalt c=
ars.
7.
Safety: All cars participating in official
G.S.V.S.C.C. on track exhibitions anywhere must pass New
Jersey State Motor Vehicle Racing Unit rules and regulations along with
G.S.V.S.C.C. safety rules and regulations.
8.
Exceptions: Any
exceptions to the rules outlined in this document must be submitted to the
committee in writing for review and approval. Exceptions must be submi=
tted
to the committee with detailed historical documentation and
rational.
1.
Compliance Inspectors: Club individuals appointed =
as
agents of the N.J. State Police Motor Vehicle Racing Division who perform
inspections to insure all vintage stock cars that drive on race tracks in
official G.S.V.S.C.C.events, meet the requirements for vintage stock cars as
set forth by the N.J. State Police for on track operation. These
individuals will also work with and are members of the Vintage Stock Car
Construction and Eligibility Committee.
